Which MeowSpace® System to Use
MeowSpace® offers the choice between using a Magnetic Door System, RFID System (radio frequency identification device), Microchip System (no collar needed—works off your cat’s inserted microchip—if he already has one, the Microchip System will recognize it during the simple programming process—if not, talk to your vet or local Humane Society about getting one), or the Dual RFID / Microchip Entry that has a Timer, and will recognize the RFID tag or the embedded Microchip. All systems work equally well. It’s a choice of personal preference or needs (if you need to keep two cats out of each other’s food, for instance, you will need to use either the RFID System or the Microchip System since they can be programmed differently for multiple pets).
The Magnetic System requires your pet to wear a magnet on its collar. It’s only .35 oz., and they don’t appear even to know it’s there. The magnet flips the latch of the door as your pet enters. The latch closes so no others can get inside, but to exit, the MeowSpace® pet need only push on the door flap. It doesn’t lock from the inside. The Magnetic system sells for $199.99.
The RFID System (now combined with the Microchip System below) requires your pet to wear a lightweight plastic collar tag. When your pet touches the door flap to enter, it triggers the RFID system to “awaken” and recognize the tag. Each tag is easily programmed, and all are different; however, two different tags can be programmed for the same MeowSpace®, or each tag can be programmed for only one MeowSpace®, as in the case of using two MeowSpaces®. The Dual Microchip (no collar needed)/RFID Collar Tag System works off of your pet’s inserted micro-chip ID, and no collar is needed; or you can use the tag on your pet’s collar if he is not microchipped. If your pet is already microchipped, the system will learn and recognize that inserted chip. The MeowSpace® Microchip System sells for $299.99.
The Dual RFID/Microchip TIMER System works off either your pet’s inserted microchip ID or an RFID collar tag. You can set the timer so that the MeowSpace® will only be able to be accessible at certain times. The Dual RFID tag/Microchip System sells for $349.99.
Each RFID or Microchip system can be programmed for only one pet, or many pets, so you could have several RFID or Microchip systems and each pet would have the only access to their MeowSpace®. Or you could have 1 system and several pets with access to the same one.

I am SO EXCITED to have found this—something I’ve been dreaming of as a way to keep my herd of five from indulging in each other’s food. One of my cats is grossly obese and one is too thin—I suspect the hierarchy contributes to this.
With five cats each needing an individual feeding spot, what would you recommend? I’m already feeding Cat #1 (normal size but picky) up on a table, Cats #2 (geriatric/normal), 3 (normal but expanding) and 4 (obese) like to eat together; and Cat #5 (the skinny one) eats several feet away from 2, 3 and 4. Table Cat #1 doesn’t go after other food. Skinny Cat #5 should be isolated so he can eat in peace. Obese Cat #4 won’t go up onto the table unless he has to; Geriatric Cat and Normal But Expanding Cat should probably get their own units.
I was thinking three units would do for starters (for Geriatric, Expanding and Skinny), and Table Cat can stay on his table while Obese eats alone on the floor. One magnet, two RFIDs sound about right? Thank you for letting me think out loud, and for making this dream an impending reality!

I have an 18 yr old cat that is now having difficulting getting up to her food. Can’t put it on the floor as the 2 dogs would devour it. I don’t have space for the feeder but have a cabinet where I could put the food. I can’t use a cat flap for entry to the cabinet because one of the dogs is smaller than the cat. Do you (or would you) sell just the door and the color/magnet? I could instal the door in the cabinet.
